What started out as a curious hobby to design dresses for his three sisters has now made him one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion world. Alexander was born on 17th March, 1969, in London, England, and got his first taste with the world of fashion designing when he got himself an apprenticeship with Savile Row tailors ‘Anderson & Sheppard’. By the tender age of 20, he had already worked with the likes of ‘Koji Tatsuno’. Soon, he went on to work under ‘Romeo Gigli’ in Milan, Italy, after which he took admission in the prestigious ‘Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design’.

Over the years, Alexander has had many accomplishments to his name. He has won the award ‘British Designer of the Year’ a number of times and is also the youngest one to receive it. Alexander was also adjudged the ‘International Designer of the Year’ at the ‘Council of Fashion Designer Awards’. Alexander has had associations with prestigious brands, such as Puma and Gucci. This talented Brit designs clothes for the Japanese superstar ‘Ayumi Hamasaki’ as well as many other celebrities.

Thomas Ford, or better known as Tom Ford, was born on August 27, 1961 in Austin, Texas, and is considered to be one of the most renowned American designers of present times. Tom discovered his love for the world of fashion almost by chance, when he worked at ChloĆ©’s press office in Paris. Although his work hardly had anything to do with designing, it was this association that made him sure of what profession he wanted to follow. Subsequently, Ford worked under American designer ‘Cathy Hardwick’ for a period of two years, after which he decided to shift to the European fashion scene. Ford then went on to join the international fashion house, ‘Gucci, and it is this stint that he is most famous for.

Tom Ford is credited for the absolute turnaround of the Gucci fashion house. This is proved beyond doubt by the fact that Gucci was almost on the verge of bankruptcy when he joined in the year 1999. Over the next 5 years, Ford transformed the fashion house’s fortunes and by the year 2005, Gucci was valued at $4.3 billion. In the year 2004, Ford announced his departure from Gucci and came out with the ‘Tom Ford label’. The label, which presently covers eyewear, men’swear, men’s accessories and women’s accessories, has been a major success. Ford also has the fragrance line called ‘Tom Ford Beauty’ to his name.

Stella McCartney

Daughter of former Beatles member ‘Sir Paul McCartney’ and animal rights activist ‘Linda McCartney’, personifies the term ‘hot’. This talented designer was born on September 13, 1971in London, England, and over the years, she has established herself as an exceedingly prominent fashion designer. Her tryst with fashion began at the tender age of 12, when she designed her first jacket. Soon, Stella pursued her internship under ‘Christian Lacroix’ and eventually enrolled herself at the Central ‘Saint Martins College of Art and Design’. Any doubts regarding her capability were put to rest with her graduation collection in the year 1995, which received a lot of fame and established her as a talented designer.

In the year 1997, Stella was appointed the chief designer of Paris fashion house ChloĆ©. Her performance here got her a lot of commercial and critical success. However, Stella is most famous for her association with ‘Gucci’. Here, she worked under celebrated designer ‘Tom Ford’, and together, they are often credited to chart Gucci’s success story. McCartney has many accomplishments to her name, of which the most notable one is receiving the ‘ VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year’ award in the year 2000. Stella McCartney has a skincare line called ‘CARE’ to her name and over the years, she has designed for numerous celebrities, such as Madonna, Annie Lennox, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.
